그곳을 향해 걸어간다. 아스팔트길은 시멘트길로, 또 자갈길로 바뀐다. 그리고 어느새 갯벌이다. 바다 너머로 먼 육지가 희미하다. 발아래 더 이상 길이 없다. 시간의 밀물은 자꾸만 나를 물러서게 하고 건너지 못하는 바다는 더욱 넓어진다. 머뭇거리며 돌아서다 발을 적시고 만다. 나는 길을 가늠한다. 길은 언제나 시작과 끝이 없었으며 그 끝은 또한 시작이기도 했었다. 이곳은 여정의 끝이 아니다. - - - * A road to beyond I walk toward it. 삶에서 소중한 것들은 모두 무료였다. 찬찬히 보니, 그것들은 사람이 만든 돈으로 지불할 필요가 없는 것이었다. 거래의 조건은 간단했다. 물질은 물질로, 비물질은 비물질로... 그러니, 육체의 행복은 육체를 움직여서, 마음의 행복은 마음을 움직여 지불한다. 하지만 실제로는, 대부분의 것들이 무료였다. 소중한 것과 그에 대한 지불은 서로 다른 것이었다. - - - * Life is free Everything precious in life was free.
