빛의 태어남 (The Emergence of Light)* 빛의 태어남 공허는 이름처럼 비어 있기를 원했다. 물질은 이름처럼 존재 하기를 원했다. 그 갈망들이 모여 별이 되었다. 작은 것들이 가까워져 무게를 이루고, 존재의 경계가 열리는 순간, 둘은 하나가 되었다. 새로운 하나를 이루며 남은 경계의 부스러기, 무게를 얻지 못한 그것은 빛의 알갱이였다. 빛은 별의 심연에서 수십만 년을 부유한다. 어느새 고향 별을 벗어나 광대한 공허를 가로지른다. 그것은 무게 없이 존재하기 위해 시간이 되었다. 시간이 그러하듯, 그것은 우주에서 가장 빠른 존재였다. 오롯이 시간이 되었기에 그것은 시간을 느낄 수 없었다. 오롯이 시간이 되었기에 다른 시간들에 닿을 수 있었다. 이윽고 그것이 내 앞에 이르렀을 때, 나는 바라보았다. 나의 눈에 비친 그것은 다시금 변한다. 그것은 빛이 아닌 무언가로 변하며 나의 기억이 되었다.
~ ~ ~ * The Emergence of Light Void wished to be empty, as its name declared. Matter wished to exist, as its name declared. Those longings gathered and became a star. Small things drew close and found their weight, and in that moment, the boundary of being was opened, the two became one. In forming a new oneness, what remained were fragments of the boundary— what failed to gain weight became grains of light. Light drifts within the abyss of the star for hundreds of thousands of years. Unaware, it leaves its native star and crosses the vast void. To exist without weight, it becomes time. Like time itself, it was the swiftest presence in the cosmos. Having become only time itself, it could no longer feel time. Having become only time itself, it could touch other times.
