* 길과 만남 (대화 7)

"무언가를 만나려면 먼저 길에 올라야만 하지 않겠는가?"
길현은 먼 곳에 눈을 두며 문득 한마디 했다.

"저도 그리 생각합니다. 그럼 그 길에 오르려면 어디로 가야 하는지요?"
석파는 잠시 생각하다 질문을 던졌다.

"길에 이르는 길이란 것은 없다네.
 만일 길에 이르는 길이 있다면 아무도 길에 도달하지 못하게 될 것일세"
길현이 무심히 대답했다.

"... ..."
석파는 몇 번이고 질문을 하려다 질문을 삼켰다.
조금의 시간이 지나 석파는 조용히 길현이 바라보는 곳을 함께 바라보았다.

"To meet something, shouldn't you be on the road first?"
Scott suddenly said, looking far away.

"I guess so, then where should I go to get on the road?"
James asked after a moment's thought.

"There is no such thing as a road that leads to the road.
 If there is a road to the road, no one will reach the road"
Scott answered indifferently.

"... ..."
James tried to ask more questions, but he swallowed them.
After a while, James quietly looked in the direction Scott was gazing.
