미국 패션·인물 사진작가로 1923년 태어나 2004년에 사망한 제2차 세계대전 이후 세계 광고 사진계를 주름잡아 온 패션 사진의 제1인자로 알려져 있습니다.
그의 패션 및 인물 사진은 미국의 스타일, 아름다움 및 문화 이미지를 정의하는 데 도움을 주었으며,
Harper's Bazaar, Vogue 및 Elle에서 활동하였습니다.
그는 특히 패션, 연극 및 댄스의 정지 사진에서 움직임을 포착하는 데 특화된 작가라고 평합니다.
1945년부터 1965년까지는 ‘하퍼스 바자’지 사진가, 그후 1966년부터 1975년까지는 ‘보그’지의 전속 사진가로 활약하였습니다.
