암모나이트와 앵무조개는
서로 닮았지만, 완전히 다른 분류군인데요.

공통점이 있다면 두족류에 속한다는 점과
고생대에 등장해
중생대까지도 함께 바다를 누볐다는 점이죠.

그런데 백악기 말, 대멸종 당시
그 많던 암모나이트는 모두 멸종했고,
앵무조개는 살아남아
지금까지도 명맥을 유지하고 있습니다.

도대체 왜 암모나이트만 멸종하고
앵무조개는 살아남은 걸까요?
