아마, 지구상 생명체 중에
변장술에 있어 문어만큼
기괴한 녀석은 없을 겁니다.
변신의 대가인 카멜레온은
호르몬을 분비해 색을 변화시키기 때문에
아무리 빨라야 약 20초 정도의 시간이 필요한 반면,
문어는 정말 눈 깜짝할 새 색을 변화시키고,
심지어는 피부의 질감마저 바꿀 수 있죠.

뿐만 아니라, 문어는 놀라운 기억력과 더불어
도구까지 사용하는 등 지능도 뛰어난 동물입니다.
지능 면에서 척추동물의 정점에 인간이 있다면,
무척추동물의 정점엔
문어가 있다라는 말이 나올 정도죠.
도대체 문어는 어떻게
이런 변장술과 지능을 갖추게 된 걸까요?
